| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about A Child is Waiting |
Ms. Jean Hansen is a fomer music teacher who'd recently took a position at the state instution for mentally disabled children. Hansen, seeing the children have some type of disorder feels hugely sympathetic towards them and treats the kids in the most nuturing, motherly and loving way that any child can ever have.
But Dr. Ben Clark, head of the institution takes notice of Hansen bringing so much ease to the children. Not that he does not mind it, but Dr. Clark also strongly believes that disabled children should learn to be education, discipline and be handled firmly, than showered them with smothered love. Clark's opinion is that orthe kids would grow up believing the world must be sorry for them because their disavantages. Hansen does not approved of Clark strict and bold ways as it seems too unemotional for her.
Meanwhile Hansen creates a special bond with one her students, 12-year-old Reuben Widdicombe, who been neglected by his parents that takes refusal to be part of their son's life. Ms. Hansen wants to reunite son and mother together so Mrs. Widdicombe accepts her son forwho he are. Mrs. Widdicomebe thinks otherwise and believes her son will suffered greatly at the sight of seeing her once again. This is proven when the mother drives off and Rueben just break down in tears. Regretting what she'd done, Hansen asked to be resigned yet suprisingly Dr. Clark keeps her as the teacher, as he feels she plays a vital role in each of the children lives.
