Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Designing Woman
Sports writer Mike Hagen is on a writing assignment in California along with fellow writer Marilla Brown. After one of too many drinks, Hagen believes he'd totally forgotten about writing an article but lucky for him, Brown reminds Hagen that the two already written it and has already been sent to the editor. After some personal time together, the two soon falls in love and quickly marries.

After their assigned vacation, Brown moves in Hagen cramped New York apartment. Disappointed that it is not big enough for them both, Marilla decides that her place fits them perfectly. Hagen moves in with his new wife and discovered she is a rich socialite living in a upscale apartment and also a fashion designer for New York's elite. Surprisingly this does not affect the married couple though they'd come from different social backgrounds, but with Hagen friends (sport writers) and Brown high society friends, the two does their best so each other friends does not clash.

However things gets more interesting when gangsters is after Mike after digging up a secret about their mob boss, who turns out to be a crook in the boxing world. It does not stop there as Hagen's beautiful ex-girlfriend Lori shows some interest in her ex-lover, not knowing at all that he is now a married man. Lori is even a model for Brown's ex-boyfriend theatre production where Marilla designs most of her clothing. Marilla does not know that Lori once had a relation with her husband. But Mike has more of his hands full when he tried to bring his wife's friends and his own together in harmony, stop a way from getting capture by gangsters, and keep the secret of his ex away from Brown.
