| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about School Daze |
Mission College is an historically black university. Dap, a student, is angry because the university administration keeps investing in South Africa, land of the apartheid. He tries to motivate his comrades by holding meetings in front of the university to the Dean's great displeasure. Dap's main adversary is Julian, head of the Greek fraternity whose would-be frat boys use to provoke on every occasion Dap and his politically aware friends.
Meanwhile, Half-Pint, Dap's cousin and a would-be Greek, tries to bear Julian and his tests destined to proove that he can be trustworthy. Dap is also having some trouble with his girlfriend Rachel who wants now to be part of the "Jigaboos", a sorority made up of dark-skinned students, opposed to the lighter-skinned "Wannabes". After an altercation with Julian during a parade, Dap is called in by the Dean of Mission College and asked to stop his political activity at once. Written, produced and directed by Spike Lee in 1987.
