Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Monty Python and the Holy Grail
A classic comedy adventure, featuring the Monty Python team. A spoof of the Arthurian legend, this movie has spawned some classic comedy moments, such as the French taunter, the killer rabbit, and the Trojan rabbit.
--Soph, Resident Scholar

Monty Python and the Holy Grail was the first full length feature film by the Monty Python troupe. It has become a comedy classic and has endured the test of time.

Arthur, King of the Britons has been sent a quest from God, to find the Holy Grail. He and his nights of the round table (Sir Lancelot the brave, Sir Bedevere the Pure, Sir Robin the not quite so brave and Sir not-appearing-in-this-film) must complete their quest, battling killer-rabbits, three headed knights, black beasts, the infamous knights of Ni and many more perilous creatures and tasks.

One is left with a deeper knowledge of mooses, african swallows and air-speed velocity after viewing the film.

King Aurthur and knights of round table are sent on a quest to find the holy grail. They travel across england, encountering many "troubles" along they way.

Arthur, King of the Britons, has been singled out by God to fulfil the human grace of finding the Holy Grail! In a haphasard and comical way, he gathers his court at Camelot, offends the French and seeks out on a crack-pot mission to uncover Christ's missing treasure. Unfortunately, his knights are all completely incompetent and manage to get themselves in trouble with scantily clad nuns, three headed monsters, magicians, killer-rabbits and evil beings in the forest. Film ends in a random sut off - did Python run out of budget?!
--Steve Slack, Resident Scholar

"Monty Python and the Holy Grail" is a pee-in-your-pants comedy about the mythical King Arthur with his troupe of knights on their God-given quest for the Holy Grail. Each knight faces their own peril; Arthur and Bedevere face the Knights that say "ni!", Robin with the Three-Headed Knight, Lancelot with the wedding guests, and Galahad with Castle Anthrax. Ends with great comedy and irony.
--Dianne, Resident Scholar

King Arthur searches for the Holy Grail. Arthur goes out to round up some knights to help him on his quest. The story tells of their adventures and misadventures as they go on their search for the legendary Holy Grail.

King Auther (Chapman) and his knights of the round table look for the holy grail. But it takes a few years. They run into a monster, French men, cops, Tim, and a killer rabbit. Very, very, very funny.
--Elizabeth, Resident Scholar

This movie is pure zaniness, disguised as a spoof on the Legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. On their quest for the Holy Grail, they encounter all manner of bizarre people (frenchmen with a flair for insults, a black knight who is a glutton for punishment, and an enchanter who is known simply as "Tim" to name but a few) and bizarre circumstances. A must see for any Python fan, and an hysterical introduction for the Python neophyte.
--Laura, Resident Scholar

In 1975, with funding from various friends (including members of Led Zeppelin), the Monty Python troupe made this screamingly and absurdly funny low-budget send-up of King Arthur and his knights -- with a killer rabbit, abusive French soldiers, the wizard named Tim, Sir Galahad's perilous assault on the Castle Anthrax, Sir Lancelot's rescue of a betrothed prince, the Holy Hand Grenade, assessment of an alleged witch, a Trojan bunny, the mortal bridgekeeper, Swedish moose subtitles, the Knights Who Say "Ni!" and many other hilarious elements. It would be hard to identify a funnier film.
--David Loftus, Resident Scholar
