Representatives from all the "important" gangs in New York City are called together by Cyrus, the head of Gramercy Riffs, to plan to overthrow police. Amidst the huge outside conference, someone shoots Cyrus and blames the Warriors, a gang from Coney Island. The Gramercy Riffs tell all the other gangs to catch the Warriors. They have a long way to go to get home and are weaponless. They go through many obstacles on their way - tough rival gangs, police, fire on the subway, and the loss of some of their members.

"The Warriors"is a film in which a street gang from Coney Island travels into manhattan to attend a gang summit under a truce by the Gramercy Riffs. At the summit, the speaker Cyrus is shot by another gang and the warriors are blamed. When their leader is caught, the warriors must fight their way back to coney under the direction of Swan(Michael Beck). Along the way they are faced with many violent situations with other gangs who are being told by the radio dj(Lynn Whitfield) that the warriors are the one to blame for Cyrus' murder.

Hundreds of adult gangs get together in NYC to discuss a truce and how they can run the city when they outnumber cops 5:1. After a leader was murdered, Ajax, Swan, Cowboy, five other friends must bop there way back to Coney Island.

Gang from Coney Island goes to meeting of gangs in Bronx, NY, to discuss the uniting of NYC gangs to take of the city. At meeting, rogue gang shoots leader, and Coney Island gang (the Warriors) gets blamed. Through a serious of rumbles, the gang must clear their name, and make it back home.
--Andrew Lee, Resident Scholar

Representatives of all major street gangs travel to a meeting in uptown New York, where the leader of the most prominent, largest gang in town (the Grammercy Riffs), appeals to them to join forces and take control of the city. When he (Cyrus) is shot, the Warriors are falsely accused and, with the temporary truce called off, have to fight their way back to Coney Island as they pass through enemy territory. Considered by some a sick exploitation movie, a cult classic by others, this low-budget Walter Hill film allegedly inspired real-life violence by actual gangs who believed Cyrus' pipedream was worth pursuing.
