| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Lost Angels |
Tim Doolan, the 16-year-old son of middle-class San Fernando baby boomer yuppies, joins a gang of white boys who take on Hispanic nicknames but fight Chicanos. He's basically a good kid, but he has nowhere to go and no one to belong to, and ends up strapped to a bed in a psychiatric facility. Sutherland is his troubled shrink. Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys does an excellent job in his feature film debut, and he has a sweet clothed sex scene with druggy blonde Amy Locane, but the movie as a whole is weak and aimless -- a disappointing surprise by Hugh Hudson, director of "Chariots of Fire" and "Greystoke."
