Review Summary and Plot Commentary about One Fine Day
Two divorced single parents, Melanie and Jack, experience lots of comical situations when their children miss the bus to a field trip and they have to spend the day with their parents. Both single parents, the two meet and bicker and develop a relationship over the course of a day while their young children play together. This is when the movie starts to heat up. The attraction between Melanie and Jack is apparent, but they both are weary and cynical. The movie spans 24 hours, in which both have to deal with several important issues and eventually learn that your children come first and that love is just around the corner.

One Fine Day is a great movie to be considered Romantic and Funny all in one. It shows how single parents have such a hard time juggling their work life, home life, and their child's life as well. Michelle Pfieffer who plays a women named Melanie Parker who is an Architect, and takes care of her son. Meanwhile, a writer by the name of Jack played by George Clooney is trying to take care of his daughter, while her mom is on her honeymoon. After a hectic morning for both characters, they become late for their child's field trip. This coincidence enables them to meet and end up helping each other by watching one another's children, during the others work hour. This allows each moment for them to come closer and closer together. By the end of the movie they have realized how much they need each other in their lives. Its a great movie to watch and I enjoyed it very much.

This is a sweet, old-fashioned, humorously quiet love story about two people so involved in their respective lives that they don't realize what they're missing. The banter and atmosphere are reminiscent of a Cary Grant/Irene Dunne romance film. Circumstances involving their children, goldfish, kittens, and missing a boat make them dependant on each other, and makes them realize a lot can change through the course of 'One Fine Day.'
