Director Barry Levinson, writer Paul Attanasio, and their stars execute a fairly slick rendition of a smarmy tale taken from Michael Crichton's bestselling novel. Tom Sanders, a happily married and successful computer expert (Douglas), expects a promotion but the position is given to Meredith Johnson (Moore), a woman from another plant with whom Sanders once had an affair in his bachelor days. Dangerously ambitious and sexy, Johnson presses Sanders to revive their affair, and sorely tempted, he comes close but breaks it off. She retaliates by charging sexual harassment, and he countersues. Because the company is negotiating a lucrative merger, this internal tussle is highly unwelcome. With the help of a mysterious email friend, Sanders takes on the battle of his career. Supporting actors include Dylan Baker and Dennis Miller. A reasonably well-done movie that leaves a sour taste in one's mouth.

This movie is based on the best-selling novel by Michael Crichton. Sanders, played by Michael Douglas, finds himself reporting to Meredith, played by Demi Moore. A long time ago they were once lovers. Now, she has beat him out over a major business position in their computer firm. One night she calls him in for a business meeting. She attempts to seduce him, but he won't have any part of it, he is a happy family man. Angry at being spurned, she files sexual harassment charges against him. The rest of the movie is Sanders' quest of revealing the truth behind what happened and her motivation for it. Donald Sutherland plays the president of the company.
