Rarely has a movie started out so strong in the first 10 minutes (the powerful Travolta character talking calmly with a couple of associates about Hollywood films and Pacino in "Dog Day Afternoon," followed by an EXPLOSION of action and violence), only to settle into a fairly conventional thriller plot. Gabriel Shear (a terrifically smooth and menacing Travolta) heads an ultra-secret counter-terrorist outfit called Black Cell and is trying to get his mitts on a $9 billion secret government account to fund his activities. He hires convicted super-hacker Stanley Jobson (decently played by Jackman) to help him get it. Jobson is willing to risk not keeping his nose clean in order to regain custody of his young daughter. There's been much ballyhoo about Halle Berry baring her breasts in this film, but unless a "skycrane" helicopter towing a city bus over LA is something you've always wanted to see, neither that flash nor the film as a whole is all that memorable. It's a decent rush that you'll have forgotten in a week.

Standard Hollywood summer action flick starring John Travolta as a madman trying to steal more than $9 billion from a secret government bank account. Some may be offended by this movie but others may have a good time if not taken too seriously.
