| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Red Dawn |
The US has not had to fight a war on its own soil for 150 years... until now. Set during the Cold War Era, Red Dawn explores the lives of eight teenagers (and at one time a shot down Air Force Colonel) that engage in guerrila warfare after their town has been invaded by Cuba and Russia.

When the Russians and the Cubans invade, Jed (Patrick Swayze) drives his Chevy pick up truck to the school picking up his brother Matt (Charlie Sheen), friend Robert (C. Thomas Howell), and other fellow students and moves them out of harms way. They proceed to Robert's Dad's gas station and load up on everything from food to guns and ammunition. Heading for the mountains, the all male crew sets up camp and plots out their strategy for survival.
Along with the battle scenes, there are some eerie scenes showing what a communist US would look like.

This film is a war thriller set in the early 1980's about a small group of high school aged friends who escape the Soviet/communist invasion of the United States that starts World War III. They gather supplies and form a guerrila regime to attempt to defeat the invading armies. As the film proceeds, the morale of the characters begins to fade as they realize that they are facing a very powerful enemy.

A Cold War movie about a group of teenagers who take to the Rocky Mountains when a Soviet-led invasion takes over their hometown. They inflict serious casualties on the local garrison, and a determined general tries to hunt them down, wearing down on their unity. If you don't care about political or historical accuracy, you should enjoy it.
