Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Taxi Driver
Robert DeNiro stars in Martin Scorsese' classic film, Taxi Driver. He plays Travis Bickle, an ex-marine in the Vietnam war, feeling he is unappreciated by his country. He hates all the scum on the streets of New York as he drives past it all. The prostitutes, the pimps and the drug dealers, he wants that all to be flushed down the toilet, to be gone. He notices Betsey (Cybill Shepherd) a young woman working for senitor Pallentine, trying to get him ellected. She rejects him after a date and Travis is convinced she's like all the rest, not caring and pretentious. He comes across a 13 year old prostitute Iris (Jodie Foster) and her disgusting pimp Sport (Harvey Keitel). In the end Travis saves Iris and kills Sport and 2 other lowlifes and is called a hero in the papers.
