| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Hangmen Also Die |
Produced, co-written and directed by german director Fritz Lang, HANGMEN ALSO DIE has been theatrically released in 1943.
We are in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1942. The Nazi Reichsprotector, Reinhard Heydrich, called -The Hangman-, has just been assassinated by the local resistance. The Gestapo arrests 300 intellectuals among the civil population and threats to execute 10 of them every 24 hours as long as the responsible is not arrested. One of the prisoners is Professor Novotny, played by Walter Brennan, whose daughter Nasha has joined the resistance.
A masterpiece.
