| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Mallrats |
What might have been an ordinary day at the Eden Praire mall turns into an episode of hijinks and hilarity in Kevin Smith's 1995 offering, Mallrats. Brodie and T.S., a couple of mid-nineties slackers, hit the tiles at the local mall after being dumped by their respective significant others, Renee and Brandi. While T.S. pines, Brodie seeks out the help of local troublemakers Jay and Silent Bob to take down Brandi's father's game show. The show, trite and tired as it is, is the only thing standing between T.S. and Brandi's reuniting.

TS and Brodie are two dudes in their early twenties, obviously just finished high school and now unleashed on the big bad world. and both get dumped by their girlfriends on the same day. while TS's girlfriend has commitments to her dad's gameshow because TS accidentally killed the female contestant, Brodie's girlfriend can't deal with his immaturity; after all, who wants a boyfriend who just sits around playing Sega and reading comics all day? So to cut a long story short, Brodie and TS head on over to the mall where they have a bunch of wacky adventures whilst trying to get their girls back. of course Jay and Silent Bob are in this, it's hard to miss the repetitive cries of "SNOOTCHIE BOOTCHIES!"
Although this movie wasnt as intelligent or thought provoking as Kevin Smith's other movies, it is still extremely entertaining. After all, it was meant to be a teen movie in the veign of American Pie and Clueless. So instead of comparing it to Chasing Amy, Clerks and Dogma, lets compare it to the other no brainer teen cmedies and just enjoy it for what it is.
