Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Jurassic Park III
Dr. Alan Grant (Neill), the paleontologist who featured in the first Jurassic Park movie, is struggling for funding to keep his Montana dig going. He wants nothing to do with Jurassic Park or live dinosaurs, but he accepts a big fee from an eccentric couple to fly over the island of Isla Sorna. The plane is piloted by mercenaries, however, who put the plane down on the island against Grant's wishes and expectations, because Paul (Macy) and Amanda (Leoni) Kirby turn out to be a divorced couple hoping to rescue their 14-year-old son Erik, who did a paraglide with a friend near the island but was brought down by an accident and has been missing for 8 weeks. The third Jurassic Park movie (2001), directed not by Spielberg but Joe Johnston, features Spinosaurus, bigger and scarier than T. Rex, as well as lots of pteranodon footage. The action sequences are pretty good, but the story is far inferior to the first two films -- both obvious and unbelievable. Laura Dern makes a brief reappearance from the first movie as a sort of dea ex machina.
--David Loftus, Resident Scholar

A divorced couple gets Dr. Alan Grant to come along with them to rescue their son (by tricking him) who crashed while parasailing on Isla Sorna, an island where dinosaurs used to be grown and bred. But once they get there, they are hunted and chased by the dinosaurs...it's a fight for their lives!

Jurassic Park 3 is the the third part of Dr. Grant (Niell) but now this time it's about him being tricked into helping a mother (Leoni) and father find their son Erik who was stranded on the island due to a parasailing accident. After Dr. Grant, the mother and father and a new scientist Billy land on the island they not only discover new dinosaur species, they also are put in jeopardy with the older, more smarter dinosaur species. Since these dinosaurs have been on the island for so long, they have adapted and become more strategic in hunting. They can communicate amongst themselves in times of daner; calling for help. Jurassic Park 3 is suspensful and overall just an entertaining film. Lots of cool dinosaurs and action.
--Vin Diesel, Resident Scholar

In this third installment of the Jurassic Park series, I was expecting something that was exciting as the first two. I was genuinly suprised at how much original action was in a movie that no one had high hopes for. The basic story line is that Sam Neil plays the archealogist just as he did in Jurassic Park (the original) still traumatised from his experince of the trip he took to a theme park that went straight to hell.Neil is givin a large amount of money (the price is never told) to fly over the Isla Nublar
with a couple of tourists and see if any of the still living dinosaurs are seen. As you can tell by the previews, the group lands on the island. We
later find out that this group of "tourists" were actually two parents looking for their lost son who was last seen over the island parasailing. The two parents are played by William H. Macy and Tea Leo. Once these parents find out how dangerous this island actually is, they try to
take off but ultimitly end up crashing. A new dinosaur is introduced brilliantly into this movie. The dinosaur is called a spinosaurus and is introduced by a battle with the Tyrannosaurus rex.The movie is fairly well done for a third piece of a great series.
